About me
Work Life
I have been at the Teaching Hospital at Virginia Tech Veterinary School since 1998. I started in ICU and then move to be a special procedures technician in 2000. I helped with endoscopy and neurologic procedures and found my passion for neurology. I transitioned to being a neurology technician in 2005. I assist with teaching labs and proctoring exams to students as well as assisting with clinical patients, students, and faculty. I love sharing my knowledge and passion with everyone I work with.
Professional Life
After working in neurology, I started working with the Academy of Internal Medicine for Veterinary Technicians as a charter member for the neurology subspecialty. This organization oversees and grants Veterinary Technician Specialty status to credentialed technicians who have pass the requirements and exam set forth by the academy for internal medicine. I have mentored colleagues, served and chaired on committees and supported the academy in other capacities over the years. I have also assisted in teaching labs and lectured at state and national conferences. I am presently the chair of the Nominations and Elections committee and coordinator for the Technician Case Report presentation portion of our national conference at ACVIM.
Home Life
I have three wonderful kids who have all flown the coop, but we visit often. I enjoy bowling on a team with my dad, kayaking at the lake with my dogs Louie and Radar, and spending quite time at home that my cat Tzatziki, insists on interrupting with running around the house and screaming.
